Writing in RSC Advances, scientists from the Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China demonstrate the importance of flake size in a graphene aerogel.

Flake size is an important parameter when designing composites, as larger flakes reduce contact resistance which tends to improve performance, for thermal, electrical and mechanical composites. This is demonstrated in this work by the improved mechanical characteristics of the graphene aerogel when prepared using flakes of larger dimensions, up to 80μm.
